Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology (NUIST), founded in 1960, is one of the key institutions of higher learning in China. It has a complete higher education system with undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral program as post-doctoral research centers.
NUIST has established a harmonious discipline system of atmospheric science, marine science, information science, environmental science, management and basic science on the basis of advantageous subjects. Its 57 undergraduate majors cover eight subject categories, namely science, engineering, management, literature, economics, law, agriculture and art. The discipline of Atmospheric Science ranks No. 1 in the national discipline evaluation conducted by the Ministry of Education of China, and Geosciences and Engineering become ESI top 1% disciplines.
Currently, NUIST has over 30,000 undergraduates and more than 3,200 graduates. Electrical Equipment
The electricity supply system here is 220V, Moreover, the plug and socket may be incompatible so please check before departure. Multifunction power cords and/or transformers can solve this problem, and they are also available in Wuxi.
Clothing
According to the climate conditions in Wuxi, winter and summer clothes are most commonly used. The highest temperature of summer is up 38 degree C/ 100 degree F. So bring at least one warm sweater or cardigan and a jacket for winter.
Life Necessities
A set of bedding and necessities such as a towel or toothbrush can be bought in many supermarkets and grocery stores around the university.
Internet
School internet is free for international students, and the username and password will be offered by our office. You may also choose to buy Internet Service through China Mobile or China Telecom. You can bring relevant digital products like a laptop according to your own needs.

Registration Procedure
Register with your Admission Notice, Visa Application for Study in China (JW 202 Form), Passport, the original Physical Examination Record for Foreigners, Blood Test Report, other Physical Check-up Record, 8 passport size photos (35mm*49mm), the original graduate certificate, academic transcripts and other materials as required.
Fill in 3 forms: Registration Form for International Students of NUIST, Registration Form of Temporary Residence, Visa/Stay Permit/ Residence Permit Application Form.

In accordance with the Regulations of the People’s Republic of China on Administration of the Entry and Exit of foreigners, all foreigners who come to China shall provide medical checkup report in order to apply for a Health Certificate which would be used in the residence permit application.
Medical checkup preparation: the original passport, original physical examination record for foreigner and two photos of 35mm*49mm. No breakfast before examination.
Registration for Temporary Residence
In accordance with the Regulations of the People’s Republic of China on Administration of the Entry and Exit of Foreigners and the provisions of the Wuxi Municipal Public Security Bureau, new students who live in the on campus dormitory or off-campus apartment should register your accommodation information in the local police office within 24 hours. (All Wuxi campus international students must live on campus.)
Application for Residence Permit
Freshmen who hold X1 visa and have completed registration and paid up all fees should apply for residence permit within 30 days after arriving in China. Transfer students must apply for residence permit modification and residence permit extension. Do pay attention to the validity of your visa. If your visa expires, you will get a penalty a 500 CNY per day from the police bureau.

In accordance with the Interim Provisions on the Requirement of Insurance Purchase for International Students in Institutions of Higher Education and guaranteeing the economic benefits for the foreigners who come to China when suffering from disease, international students shall join in the insurance plan of life insurance and accidental medical insurance.
The insurance service item covers accidental injury insurance, in-patient medical insurance, dread disease in-patient insurance, traffic accidental insurance, accidental in-patient allowance, and accidental medical insurance.

The programs are geared for students with no or little exposure to China and Chinese language. Teachers will guide students to develop a secure foundation of the language in an immersive Chinese ambience.
Classes are medium-sized and taught by enthusiastic, bilingual and professional teachers. Students can choose to study for one level or to complete all the levels (Beginner Level, Elementary Level, Intermediate Level, Advanced Level) continuously.
